Aldebaran Resources announces spin-out of its Northern Argentina exploration projects

31st October 2025 Aldebaran Resources announces spin-out of its Northern Argentina exploration projects

Aldebaran Resources Inc. has announced a strategic move to unlock shareholder value and accelerate mineral exploration in Argentina. The company plans to spin out its portfolio of copper, gold, and silver projects in Salta, Jujuy, and Catamarca provinces into a newly formed, Canadian-incorporated company focused exclusively on advancing high-potential mining projects across Argentina.

This new company (“SpinCo”) will be led by Sam Leung a mining executive with over 20 years of international and South American experience, including leadership roles with Adventus Mining (acquired by Silvercorp Metals in 2024), Lundin Mining, and Hatch Ltd. Leung’s proven track record in business growth and resource development in Argentina positions SpinCo for rapid advancement.

Meanwhile, Aldebaran will continue to focus on its flagship Altar copper-gold project in San Juan Province, maintaining its commitment to advancing one of Argentina’s most significant copper assets.

Key highlights of SpinCo’s project portfolio

  • Rio Grande Project (Salta Province) is located near Fortuna Mining’s Lindero gold mine, Rio Grande hosts both oxide and sulphide copper-gold mineralization with heap-leach potential. Historic results include an impressive 257.2 m at 0.53% Cu and 1.20 g/t Au, with updated drilling permits expected in early 2026.
  • Aguas Calientes (Jujuy Province) is a promising epithermal gold-silver system extending over 6 km, with past drilling intercepts such as 23 m at 1.12 g/t Au and 11.5 g/t Ag. The project already has drill permits in place and is ready for the next exploration phase.

Other Projects

  • El Camino (Salta), IOCG-style mineralization potential from previous Teck exploration.
  • Oscara (Salta), widespread Cu-Au occurrences suggestive of an IOCG system.
  • La Frontera (Catamarca), historic silver trench samples indicate strong exploration upside.
  • Catua (Jujuy), copper oxide target with significant room for early-stage discovery.

The strategic vision

According to John Black, CEO of Aldebaran Resources: “We believe that the proposed reorganization will unlock additional value for Aldebaran shareholders by creating a new company that will actively advance a promising portfolio of exploration projects within Aldebaran that have been on hold for the past several years while Aldebaran was advancing its flagship Altar copper gold project.”

SpinCo is now going to be fully incorporated as a standalone exploration company led by Sam Leung and a private placement will fund upcoming 2025–2026 fieldwork. Geochemistry and geophysics to advance Rio Grande and Aguas Calientes toward drilling readiness. Moreover the Company intends to become a reporting issuer in Canada via a plan of arrangement, targeting a public listing.
