24th September 2024 Britain and Indonesia signed MoU on critical minerals
Memorandum of Understanding
Last week Britain signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indonesia to collaborate on critical minerals, boosting both nations’ roles in the global supply chain.
This partnership aims to foster: policy dialogue & technical knowledge sharing, supply chain resilience, and sustainable upstream and downstream mineral processing.
Key players in the critical minerals
According to Anneliese Dodds, UK’s Minister, this agreement solidifies the UK and Indonesia as key players in the critical minerals sector. Indonesia, rich in tin, copper, bauxite, and nickel, is already the world’s largest source of nickel ore and is strategically expanding its processing capabilities, especially in the EV battery space.
Perspectivs
With environmental sustainability as a priority, this collaboration promises to create local jobs while protecting the ecosystem.
This Memorandum follows a similar approach by the US, reflecting the growing global focus on sustainable mineral supply chain.
