Cameco, Brookfield, and the U.S. Government forge a $80 billion partnership

29th October 2025 Cameco, Brookfield, and the U.S. Government forge a $80 billion partnership

Cameco Corporation together with Brookfield Asset Management, has established a strategic partnership with the U.S. Government to accelerate the deployment of Westinghouse Electric Company’s advanced nuclear reactor technologies across America.

At the heart of this collaboration is a shared vision: to reinvigorate the U.S. nuclear power industrial base, strengthen energy security, and drive innovation that supports the rise of artificial intelligence and advanced computing infrastructure.

$80 billion investment

Under the terms of this agreement, the U.S. Federal Government will facilitate financing and streamline approvals for the construction of new Westinghouse nuclear power reactors representing an aggregate investment of at least USD $80 billion. Once operational, these reactors will deliver reliable, carbon-free energy to the American grid and help power the data centers driving the AI revolution.

High level partnership

Connor Teskey, President of Brookfield Asset Management has stated: „This partnership with the U.S. Government will help unlock the potential that Westinghouse and nuclear energy can play to accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence in the United States, while meeting growing electricity demand and energy security needs at scale.”

Tim Gitzel, CEO of Cameco has highlighted the importance of this partnership: “This partnership reflects a powerful alignment of industry expertise and national leadership. ”

This historic partnership builds upon Cameco and Brookfield’s successful 2023 acquisition of Westinghouse, which combined Cameco’s global nuclear fuel expertise with Brookfield’s leadership in sustainable infrastructure investment.

New jobs and expansion of nuclear supply chain

Through this new collaboration, the U.S. nuclear renaissance gains unprecedented momentum, supporting over 100,000 new jobs, expanding nuclear supply chains, and positioning America as a global leader in clean energy innovation.

As World Nuclear News informs, the partnership is also expected to unlock long-term opportunities for Cameco’s uranium and nuclear fuel services, supporting the next generation of Westinghouse AP1000 reactors both in the U.S. and internationally.

As Cameco continues to play a central role in fueling the future of nuclear power and clean energy, this collaboration underscores the commitment to building a secure, sustainable energy future.
