Puerto Del Aire with MIA approval!

31st January 2025 Puerto Del Aire with MIA approval!

Alamos Gold Inc. has reached a key milestone for the Puerto Del Aire (PDA) project in the Mulatos District. In a press release, the company announced that it received approval to amend its environmental impact assessment (MIA) from Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), clearing the way for construction to begin!

Puerto Del Aire gold project

The Puerto Del Aire is a high-grade underground deposit adjacent to the Mulatos pit. The expected gold production is expected to be 127,000 ounces/year for the first 4 years and 104,000 ounces/year over an 8-year mine life. What is more the company has informed that PDA is low mine-site all-in sustaining costs ($1,003/oz), what means that it is a low-cost, high-return project.

The company has also informed that PDA remains open in multiple directions, with exciting results near the past-producing Cerro Pelon pit. Future updates could reveal even greater potential to extend high-grade production.

The PDA construction begins mid-2025. The total initial capital is estimated of approximately $165M (spanning 2025–2027) with a first production anticipated in mid-2027.

Key permitting milestone

John A. McCluskey  President and CEO of Alamos Gold has stated: “Mulatos is our founding operation and a steady producer since 2005. Through a long-track record of exploration success, we have discovered and developed a number of high-return projects that have continued to extend the mine life of the Mulatos District. Having achieved this key permitting milestone through long-standing community, state, and federal government support, PDA is expected to significantly extend the mine life of the District, as our next high-return project with significant exploration upside. With an initial Mineral Reserve and Resource declared on PDA at the end of 2021, the transition from discovery to construction has been rapid and exemplifies the exploration upside within the District”
