Copper exploration accelerates in Nevada as Giant Mining launches 2026 program at Majuba Hill

17th March 2026 Copper exploration accelerates in Nevada as Giant Mining launches 2026 program at Majuba Hill

Copper exploration activity in the United States continues to gain momentum as demand for critical minerals grows alongside the global energy transition. This week, Giant Mining Corp. announced the start of its 2026 exploration campaign at the Majuba Hill Copper Project in Nevada, one of the most established mining jurisdictions in the world.

Majuba Hill Copper Project

Located in Pershing County, the Majuba Hill project represents a large intrusive-related copper-silver-gold system that has already seen more than 89,000 feet of historical drilling and past copper production. The new exploration campaign aims to refine the geological model and identify the most promising breccia-hosted copper targets ahead of the company’s upcoming drilling program.

Project Phases

The geological team has already begun detailed mapping, structural interpretation, and surface and underground geochemical sampling, supported by a comprehensive re-evaluation of historical drill core data. The objective: prioritize high-potential drill targets for the next phase of diamond drilling. The company plans a multi-phase drilling campaign of up to 10,000 feet (3,048 m) in 2026:

Phase 1: up to 5,000 feet of diamond drilling, underground mapping and sampling, surface geochemical surveys to refine drill targets

Phase 2:  up to 5,000 additional feet of drilling

Refining high-priority targets

These activities build on exploration carried out in 2024-2025, which identified multiple mineralized breccia bodies associated with hydrothermal-magmatic tourmaline breccias and breccia pipe margins, features commonly associated with large copper systems. Several historical drill holes have returned elevated copper and silver values, with locally anomalous gold, suggesting the potential for a broader mineralized system. As David Greenway, President and CEO of Giant Mining Corp., explained: “Launching the 2026 exploration season marks an exciting step forward for the Majuba Hill project. Majuba Hill hosts a large hydrothermal breccia system with demonstrated copper-silver mineralization from prior drilling. Our current program is focused on refining high-priority targets and preparing for the next phase of diamond drilling. With a strong technical team on site and clear exploration targets identified, we believe Majuba Hill represents a compelling opportunity to advance a significant copper system in Nevada.”

Why it is important

Several characteristics make the project particularly attractive from an exploration and development perspective: large land package covering approximately 9,684 acres, extensive historical drilling database exceeding 89,000 feet, multiple identified mineralized breccia targets, existing infrastructure, including road access and nearby power.

At a time when critical mineral supply chains are becoming strategically important, exploration projects like Majuba Hill may play an increasing role in supporting future demand from renewable energy infrastructure, electrification, and electric vehicles.
