2nd April 2025 Critical Metals Corp releases PEA for Tanbreez Project
Critical Metals Corp. has made a press release announcing the release of the independent Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the Tanbreez Project. The Tanbreez Project is one of the world’s largest rare earth deposits. With 4.7 billion metric tons of mineralized kakortokite, Tanbreez is poised to become a cornerstone of the Western critical minerals supply chain.
PEA of Tanbreez Project
The PEA evaluates The Tanbreez Project NPV of approximately the $3 Billion NPV ($2.8B–$3.6B before tax, at 15% and 12.5% discount rates), with 180% IRR. The resource remains open laterally and at depth. Fully permitted mining license through 2050. Western-aligned supply partner for US & EU critical mineral and defense sectors
Next step
The U.S. and EU are ramping up efforts to secure domestic rare earth supply chains. Only 3% of mined material is waste, with two by-products available for sale. Moreover, the project is going to support next-generation technologies, defense applications, and clean energy. Next, it is expected to perform additional drilling campaigns to unlock more resource potential.
The Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) is expected by the end of 2025. Furthermore, a further $10M investment in exploration by Critical Metals Corp to increase ownership to 92.5%.
Importance of the PEA
Tony Sage CEO and Chairman of the company, has expressed the importance of the PEA. He stated: “With significant macroeconomic tailwinds and global policy initiatives, including the U.S.’s recent executive order to tap the Department of Defense to expand the production of rare earths, the Tanbreez Project is expected to play an essential role in supporting an integrated Western supply chain. As this PEA was only based on a fraction of the total resource potential at Tanbreez, Critical Metals Corp believes that more drilling can unlock enormous upside potential for Western stakeholders producing defense applications and other next-generation technologies, and can substantially increase the Tanbreez Project’s NPV.”
