Karelian Diamond Resources has announced that its exploration works have entered the next level after they uncovered a diamond-bearing kimberlite. The founding was at the same place where the pale green diamond was previously uncovered in 2022.

Moreover, Karelian Diamond Resources has informed that the latest electron analysis showed the presence of a diamond stability field which indicates the possibility of diamond-bearing kimberlite which was a possible source of previously unearthed green diamond.

The company stated: “Discovery of the source of the green diamond could be particularly significant as colored diamonds, including green diamonds, sell for prices which can be multiples of those for clear colorless diamonds”

Diamond mine in Finland?

Furthermore, Karelian Diamond Resources is exploring also the Lahtojoki deposit which is also located in Finland. The company has applied for a mining permit to perform the exploitation of deposits with a significant percentage of pink diamonds. If permission is granted and the mine developed it will be the first diamond mine in Europe (outside Russia.
