El Domo Project with Administrative Authorization

26th June 2024 El Domo Project with Administrative Authorization

Administrative Authorization

Adventus Mining Corporation and Salazar Resources Ltd. has made a press release where they announce that Ecuador’s Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition (MAATE) has granted Administrative Authorization over the Public Hydric Domain for the Curipamba – El Domo project (copper – gold). This crucial permit paves the way for construction activities, aligning with the Water Resources Law’s technical requirements. The next step is receiving the final document to transition from exploration to exploitation, as detailed in the Participants’ February 22, 2024, news release.

Challanges

On June 12, 2024, a constitutional action was filed against MAATE and the Attorney General’s office, involving Curimining, an entity owned by the Participants. The action, initiated by a group of individuals and supported by an Ecuadorian NGO, challenges the environmental license, alleging non-compliance with the Environmental Consultation process. The Participants are confident in MAATE’s strong evidence to counter these allegations.

The Curipamba project secured its environmental license on January 19, 2024, after a 27-month review process, with a 98% vote in favor during the Environmental Consultation. This process adhered to Ecuadorian regulations and international standards.

The legal action’s outcome is expected within two to three months, with potential appeals extending the resolution timeline to six months. The Constitutional Court may review the case for procedural issues.

Community leaders have voiced concerns, believing the action undermines their participation in the environmental consultation. The trial is slated to begin in July 2024.

Transation

Adventus is set to finalize its arrangement with Silvercorp Metals Inc., with a shareholder vote scheduled for June 26, 2024. The transaction, expected to close by July 5, 2024, is progressing smoothly, pending shareholder approval and final conditions.

Sustainable development

This project marks a significant step forward in Ecuador’s mining industry, emphasizing sustainable development and community engagement.
Adventus and Silvercorp are committed to advancing the Curipamba – El Domo project, ensuring its alignment with environmental and business standards.
