11th September 2026 Forge resources completes La Estrella underground ramp
Forge Resources Corp. has informed that the Company has reached an important underground development milestone at its La Estrella coal project in Santander, Colombia, completing the main ramp to operational depth and beginning the crosscut that will advance directly toward the project’s known coal seams. The milestone shifts La Estrella from ramp construction into the next phase of underground development, bringing Forge closer to direct coal access and its planned extraction activities.
Crosscut development begins
With the ramp complete, the technical team has engineered the underground junction connecting the existing development with the new coal-directed crosscut. The design includes installation of a perpendicular support arch and steel transition portal before advancement begins. The crosscut will initially use the same 12.4 m² TH29 support profile employed in the ramp before transitioning to a lighter 9.0 m² section, which the company expects will enable faster development toward the coal horizons. The target is La Estrella’s stacked sequence of eight known metallurgical and thermal coal seams. Reaching these seams would represent another significant step in moving the fully permitted project toward extraction and potential cash flow.
From infrastructure to coal access
CEO PJ Murphy described completion of the ramp as a major milestone: “Excellent progress from our skilled underground team has taken us to the crosscut that will take us straight into the coal seams.”
Forge holds an 80% interest in Aion Mining Corp., which is developing La Estrella. The project is permitted from exploration through production, with approved production capacity of 180,000 tonnes per year, providing Forge with an established regulatory framework as underground development progresses.
Execution becomes the next test
The latest development is significant because La Estrella is moving beyond surface infrastructure and access construction toward the mineralized target itself. For Forge, the next operational milestone is now clearly defined: advance the crosscut, intersect the coal seams and demonstrate the transition from underground development toward extraction.
