Gilar Mine begins production!

23rd May 2025 Gilar Mine begins production!

Anglo Asian Mining has made a press release informing that it has commenced production at Gilar, a brand-new underground mine located at the Gedabek site in Azerbaijan.

Mining has started in the high-grade Zone 4, and the results align perfectly with the strategic mining plan. The ore, rich in copper and gold, will undergo: Agitation Leaching to produce gold doré. Flotation to generate high-quality copper concentrate. The company currently targets to achieve 2,000 tons of ore per day!

Ore grades

The maiden JORC Mineral Resource estimate for Gilar, published in December 2023, revealed: 6.10 million tonnes of mineralization and 0.88% copper (totaling 54,000 tonnes) and 1.30 g/t gold (containing over 255,000 ounces) average grades.

As Anglo Asian transitions to a mid-tier, copper-focused producer, Gilar will play a pivotal role, ramping up to produce 50,000-60,000 tonnes of ore monthly. This marks a transformative step toward company’s ambitious goals.

Huge milestone

Reza Vaziri, CEO of Anglo Asian, stated: „We are delighted to announce that Gilar has now entered production. After years of exploration and development works, I wish to thank all the team for their hard work in delivering this achievement. With over 54,000 tonnes of copper and 255,000 ounces of gold confirmed, Gilar is set to play a crucial role in our strategy to transition to a mid-tier, primarily copper-focused producer.”

Gilar underground mine

Situated 7 km from the Gedabek processing facilities and near the northern boundary of the Gedabek Contract Area, Gilar showcases a commitment to innovation and growth. The underground mine features two tunnels, one for exploration and production and another for ventilation. Development began in late 2022 after exceptional drilling results. Zone 4 hosts 2.57 million tonnes of mineralization, with copper grades of 1.47% and gold at 1.78 g/t.
