Peru with a significant increase in ore production!

The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mining (MINEM) stated that according to the latest issue of the Statistical Bulletin of Mining (BEM), Peru recorded a significant increase in the production of copper (7.5%), gold (8.3%), zinc (6.8%), lead (5.0%), iron (17.5%) and tin (40.5%), in comparison to similar period last year (August).

Moreover, Peru’s domestic copper production recorded an increase of 7.5% (in comparison to Aguste 2022). In a given period (January to August 2023) copper (1,771,183 tonnes of fine FMT), zinc (956,938 FMT), lead (175,880 FMT), and iron (9,598,098 FMT) recorded an increased production in comparison with same timeframe in 2022.

MINEM states that good results of cooper were obtained thanks to Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A., which maintains the current monthly production level of above 36,000 FMT.

Gold, zinc, lead, iron

Peru’s domestic gold production increased by 8.3% due to the optimal performance of Minera Yanacocha SRL, Consorcio Minero Horizonte SRL, and Compañia Minera Poderosa S.A.

Zinc production, in comparison to 2022 (August to August) recorded an increase of 6.8%. An increase is explained by the good results recorded by Antamina (Compañía Minera Antamina SA), Volcan Compañía Minera SAA, and Minera Shouxin Perú S.A.

Domestic lead production increased by 5.0% thanks to the results of Volcan Compañía Minera SAA, Compañía Minera Chungar SAC and Pan American Silver Corp. Huaron SA.

Peru’s domestic iron production also recorded a significant increase of 17.5% compared to the same period in 2022. This increase is connected with the results of Shougang Hierro Perú S.A.A. and Minera Shouxin Perú S.A.
