Riverside moves into Phase 2 at the Union Project

1st April 2026 Riverside moves into Phase 2 at the Union Project

Riverside Resources Inc. has entered a new phase of exploration at its Union Project in Sonora, Mexico, building directly on the momentum generated by its earlier drilling success. The transition to Phase 2 marks a key step in advancing what is increasingly shaping up to be a district-scale opportunity with multiple mineralization styles and strong discovery potential.

Phase 1

Earlier in 2026, Riverside reported results from a 12-hole Phase 1 drilling campaign, including a new sediment-hosted gold discovery at Luis Hill, where 42 metres grading 0.3 g/t gold were intersected. This result not only confirmed the presence of gold mineralization beyond traditional carbonate replacement systems, but also opened the door to Carlin-style analogues in a region where such systems have not been extensively explored.

Ongoing program

With funding secured through its partnership with Questcorp, Riverside has now mobilized field teams across four priority target areas. The ongoing Phase 2 program integrates geological mapping, geochemical sampling, structural analysis, and expanded geophysical surveys, including an aeromagnetic drone campaign designed to extend subsurface understanding across the property. These efforts are focused on refining drill targets in preparation for a planned drilling program in summer 2026.

John-Mark Staude, President and CEO of Riverside Resources Inc., emphasized the importance of this transition, stating: “We are pleased to have a fully funded exploration program and have immediately activated our team in the field.” He further noted that the company is building directly on its earlier results.

The scope of Phase 2 reflects the geological diversity of the Union Project. Exploration efforts are targeting carbonate replacement deposit (CRD) systems, sediment-hosted gold mineralization within calcareous and carbonaceous sediments, and structurally controlled gold mineralization associated with quartzite units. This multi-model approach increases the probability of discovery while enabling a more comprehensive understanding of the district’s mineralizing systems.

Improving project strategic position

Recent consolidation of the Famosa mineral concessions into Riverside’s land package further strengthens the project’s strategic position. The geological continuity observed in this area, extending both northward and eastward, supports the expansion of exploration into previously underexplored zones and enhances the scale potential of the project.

As the program progresses, particular attention is being given to the Luis Hill discovery, where Phase 2 work aims to delineate and expand the newly identified gold system. At the same time, underground sampling at the historic Union Mine is continuing, especially in zones where mineralization remains open. Additional efforts are focused on the Famosa North area, where geochemical anomalies have yet to be drill tested, and on structurally complex zones in the northern and eastern parts of the property.

What is next

With permits secured, access established, and both drilling and geophysical contractors engaged, Riverside is advancing toward a well-prepared drilling campaign scheduled for early summer 2026. The integration of geoscience disciplines and systematic target evaluation reflects a modern exploration strategy aimed at efficiently de-risking targets while maximizing discovery potential.

In the broader context of global mineral exploration, projects such as Union highlight the importance of combining geological insight, technical execution, and strategic partnerships. As demand for gold and critical metals continues to evolve, the ability to rapidly advance high-quality targets from discovery to drilling remains a key differentiator in the sector.
