27th January 2026 Strategic expansion in a high-potential germanium district in Quebec
Momentum continues at Germanium Mining Corp. as the Company strengthens its position in one of Canada’s most established mining regions. The Company has announced that it expanded its 100% optioned Lac du Km 35 Germanium Property, located east of Chibougamau, Quebec, through the addition of four new mineral claims. The project now comprises 79 claims covering ~4,371 hectares (43.7 km²), reflecting a focused strategy of land consolidation in areas of geological interest within the Abitibi greenstone belt.
Strategic expansion for future exploration
Mario Pezzente Germanium Mining Corp CEO has stated about the expansion: “The expansion of the 100% optioned Lac du Km 35 Germanium property reflects the Company’s efforts to consolidate its land position in areas of geological interest. We believe this strategically expanded footprint provides a broader platform for future exploration and evaluation.
Why this matters?
• Excellent infrastructure access via Highway 167 and an extensive forestry road network
• Located within the northeastern Abitibi subprovince, underlain by volcano-sedimentary and intrusive Archean rock units
• Proximity to the Faribault Shear Zone, a major ductile structure interpreted as a potential pathway for mineralizing hydrothermal fluids
• Close to the Grenville Front, a significant regional geological boundary
Information about deposit
According to the announcement a historical germanium occurrence identified by government geologists returned 186 ppm Ge (historical and unverified). The showing lies immediately adjacent to untested electromagnetic anomalies (~400 × 400 m). A 2024 reconnaissance program collected 39 outcrop samples, with values up to: 0.27% Ni, 0.04% Co, 0.24% Cu and 0.21 g/t Au.
While germanium values from the 2024 samples were not considered reliable due to analytical methodology, the multi-element signature supports the project’s exploration upside in a largely overlooked area.
With a growing land position, favorable geology, historic mineralization, and minimal modern exploration, Lac du Km 35 is emerging as a priority germanium-focused exploration asset within a top-tier mining jurisdiction.
