The global mining industry is heading to Lima and there is still time to join WMC 2026

26th May 2026 The global mining industry is heading to Lima and there is still time to join WMC 2026

As the Festival of the Sun, Inti Raymi, transforms Peru into a celebration of heritage, energy and renewal, another global gathering will take place in Lima with equally historic ambitions.

From June 24-26, 2026, the 27th World Mining Congress (WMC 2026) will bring together the most influential voices in mining, technology, finance, sustainability and policy for one defining conversation: how to secure the minerals the world urgently needs while fundamentally reshaping the way the industry operates. Under the theme “Mining for the Future”, WMC 2026 is more than a congress. It is a global platform for collaboration and action, driving Trust, Transformation and Technology towards a thriving and sustainable future.

Hosted at the Lima Convention Center in Peru, the event arrives at a pivotal moment for the global mining industry. Energy transition ambitions, supply chain resilience, geopolitical shifts, artificial intelligence, water stewardship and critical minerals security are no longer isolated discussions, they are converging into one urgent industrial reality.

Industry leaders are heading to Lima

Global mining leaders including Natascha Viljoen, CEO of Newmont, Iván Arriagada, CEO of Antofagasta, Mikael Staffas, CEO of Boliden, Marna Cloete, CEO of Ivanhoe Mines, Jorge Gómez, CEO of Collahuasi, Juan Luis Kruger Sayán, CEO of Minsur, Eduardo Landin, CEO of Hochschild, Ivo Zhao, CEO of MMG Limited, Roque Benavides, Chairman of Buenaventura, and Mark Cutifani (Odin Partnership) will take the stage alongside some of the industry’s most influential thinkers and innovators.

The congress will also feature Robert Friedland, Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines, Rohitesh Dhawan, CEO of ICMM, Michelle Ash, CEO of SIMULIA, Piia Karhu of Metso, Tim O’Connor, Karina Gistelinck and Ivan Lopez from BHP, Eva Arias (Poderosa), Inge Hofkens COO of Aurubis Multimetal Recycling as well as leaders from Hatch (Joe Lombard and James Marzocca), Bechtel (Jim McCloud), FLSmidth (Toni Laaksonen), NORCAT (Pejman Salehi), Fortescue (Kristen Pelc, Cintia Marquetti), Teck Resources (Karla Mills) and Fleet Space Technologies (Flavia Tata Nardini).

The conversation extends beyond mining itself. Oxford University Professor Bent Flyvbjerg, globally recognized for his work on megaproject delivery and infrastructure risk, joins the program together with neuroscientist and Lab of Misfits CEO Beau Lotto, bringing perspectives on decision-making, innovation and transformation that increasingly define mining’s future competitiveness.

Additional voices from the World Bank (Robert Schlotterer), Colorado School of Mines (Dr. Alicia Polo y La Borda Cavero), Energy Impact Partners (Dr. Eve Hanson), sustainability consultancies, technology providers and exploration leaders such as: Julia Torreblanca, Amber Johnston-Billings, Florence Drummond, Luis Miguel Castilla, David strang, Sarah Gordon, Mariel Renteria, Enrique Rubio, Liz Dennett, Randy Allen, Liang Yuan ensure the discussions move beyond vision statements toward practical implementation.

There is still time to be part of the conversation

At a time when the mining industry is being asked to deliver more critical minerals, faster development, lower emissions, stronger social performance and greater technological innovation simultaneously, few events offer a platform as globally connected and strategically important as WMC 2026.

The World Mining Congress in Lima is where governments, investors, operators, engineers, scientists and innovators will shape the next chapter of mining together.

Registration at the offcial WMC 2026 website (https://wmc2026.org/) remains open, and there is still time to join the conversations that will influence the future of the industry.

See you in Lima!
