Zinnwald Lithium Plc announced that the Saxon State Government has reaffirmed its strong support for its lithium project, underscoring its strategic importance in securing an independent European lithium supply.

The Saxon government designates the project a high priority, with Economics Minister Dirk Panter highlighting the need to reduce raw material dependence amid global tensions.

Pre-Feasibility Sstudy

Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) confirms strong financial and technical viability. The study enalauted the pre-tax NPV at €3.3 billion (8% discount rate), and a 23.6% post-tax IRR. The lithium hydroxide monohydrate peak production is estimated at approximetly 35,100 tonnes per annum.

Following the announcement, Zinnwald shares surged 10% to 5.80p in London.

Future key player

Zinnwald Lithium CEO Anton du Plessis expressed that the company is planning to become a key player on the European market: He said: „We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with the authorities and stakeholders as we advance our plans to become a key supplier of lithium to the European battery and electric vehicle sectors.”

Remaining optimistic

Despite not securing strategic status under the CRMA, Zinnwald remains confident in its position as a key player in the European battery and EV supply chain. “Despite this outcome, Zinnwald Lithium remains optimistic about its long-term prospects as one of the few near-term, sustainable lithium production projects in Europe with the size of resource that can be a significant contributor to European supply.” said Anton Du Plessis.
